About CAD-GIS Laboratory

The scientific and research area of the Laboratory of Cadastre and Geographic Information Systems includes (but is not limited) the following fields:

  • concerning Cadastral Systems: the techniques and methods of cadastral mapping, the recording and management of rights exercised on land, special Cadastres, cadastral databases, and their specifications, the updating processes of the Cadastre (with the development of systems and procedures for the continuous monitoring of spatial and descriptive cadastral changes), the methods and procedures of property valuation, the use of geographic information systems in the Cadastre and property valuations.
  • Concerning Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S), the scientific research of the laboratory includes spatial modeling and analysis based on traditional and modern A.I algorithms, the design and implementation of flexible spatial data structures with emphasis on 2D and 3D (including the analysis of temporal data), the design and implementation of spatial databases and applications, data visualization, the development of geographic ontologies, and the development of algorithms for G.I.S analysis and data-driven decision-making.
